Carrie Koftan

I am an education specialist and author whose passion is helping students succeed and blossom. For more than a decade, I have provided special education services to students who are on an Individualized Education Program (IEP). I am a firm believer in differentiation, and love helping students discover their learning styles. It brings me joy to help students cultivate optimism, perseverance and a sense of self-worth
I hold a teaching credential for grades K-12 and a Master’s of Science in Education, with an emphasis in Special Education.I am available to help teachers, parents and others with my consulting services, workshops, books and other resources, including my teacher store.
“Why So Special,” located on the Teachers Pay Teachers website, offers worksheets, activities and lessons designed around my latest children’s book, The Adventures of Lavalino
As an author, I write both children’s books and resource books for educators and parents. The Adventures of Lavalino is based upon a real-life cat and covers themes of adoption, grit and optimism. It is based in Italy and offers a launching point for students to learn more about the Italian language and culture. My forthcoming book,The Teacher’s Companion to Understanding Autism, offers insight and strategies for teaching students on the autism spectrum in the mainstream classroom.
I live with my husband and my rescue dog in Denver, Colorado. I like to travel, do organic gardening and practice a minimalistic lifestyle. Please use my contact form to reach out to me, or find me on Facebook at www.facebook.com/whysospecial.
